I was in the middle of no-where today, looking for a family cemetery stone (OK, well Genesee isn’t in the middle of no-where, it is on the map, but it’s one of those towns that if you blink, you might miss it, except for having to slow down) when my family friend John called me.
Back story: This past Thanksgiving my great Uncle Donald passed away and I was named executor of the estate. The estate is a farm up near the international border of Minnesota and Canada. The farm includes a lot of land, machinery, animals, the homestead, etc. It was left up to me to make decisions best for the surviving children (my grandma and her siblings) as well as any heirs. It’s a big job but I was left to do it because I handled the specifics when my great Uncle Ted passed away.
I was already pretty salty that I hadn’t had the chance to go back up the farm before we put everything up at auction (stupid knee) but then John called me to tell me Pete had passed away. Pete was one of our horses and he was pretty old so I expected it, but something about it, hit me really hard and I started to sob (and I'm not someone who crys much). I realized I’m never going to get to go back to the farm. Just then a horse ninnied and I looked up (see this cemetery is surrounded by farms pretty much) and a horse was hanging at the fence across from me. I wanted to, SO BAD, go over and pet the horse… but I didn’t know who’s horse it was and the horse didn’t know me.
I really need to find a friend who has a farm, barn and horse… preferably all three but I’d settle for one. I’m going to miss sitting on the porch hearing the summer evening sounds of the farm, walking around the fields, laying in the hay loft and most of all, spoiling the horses with sugar cubes and apples…
So… until then…

Human Photography
Friends - sorry for the departure. I had internet issues.
Anyway, I am photographing a friends family and infant child (8 weeks) this weekend.
I don't have much experience with humans let alone babies.
Any good tips or things to watch for? avoid? etc?
Is there ANYONE out there?
Do I have anyone following me anymore? I mean, I understand if you're not...
I'm just curious for knowing what my audience wants and craves and if there is one...
iPhones and Photo Apps
It's been about 2 years since I've been on dA. I really dropped off the earth here. I went through a lot - family wise, medically, love life and so forth.
So I have no idea if this has been discussed much or not.
What are your thoughts on using photo apps and the iPhone/iPad for photography?
Oh Spring, How Thou Art I Miss You
Its been 6 months since I've blogged and since I"ve really even been on DA. So much has happened in that time period, but all the while I've been plugging along at photography just not at the level or amount I would like.
My grandma has incurable cancer.
I broke up with my boyfriend.
I have learned how to maneuver and use my snowblower like a pro. I can clear my driveway in under an hour (that's good for me folks)
I have kittehs that drive me nuts and manage 3 fan pages on facebook. My CATS have more fans than I have friends in real life. LOL.
I've researched out an awesome lawn mower.
I'm currently learning how to put tile up and picki
